Booking your Venue: Outdoor Ceremony Spaces

Picking your venue is one of the best parts in the planning process! But it can also be very overwhelming. There are SO many options. But now that you have your time of year and an idea of how you envision your wedding, you should be able to narrow down your venue choices.  This blog is going to focus on the Spring/Summer brides who are looking for an outdoor ceremony site.

I thought I would help you out and put together a list of my favorite venues! Click on each of the links to be connected to the website of each venue.

Most of these venues have ballrooms/reception areas at the same location which will save your guests the transfer time to/from the ceremony and reception.

1. Plymouth Creek Center - The Millennium Gardens. This is where I had my wedding so of course I had to include it! It really is a beautiful and affordable site! Because this venue is in the middle of a garden, you do not need to do any decorating! The flowers and surrounding gardens lend all the decor you need!

2. Olympic Hills Golf Club - Eden Prairie.
One of my best friends was married here in 2010 and it is absolutely gorgeous! There is a beautiful arch overlooking a pond with willow trees. So gorgeous!

3. Withrow Ballroom - Hugo. See my last blog post for some great pics. Again, one of my dearest friends was married there last weekend. I honestly had not heard about this venue before but it is really beautiful and VERY reasonably priced! If you are looking for a "country" feel, this is the place to be!

4. Carlson Rotunda /Amphitheater- Minnetonka. I attended a wedding at this venue last winter. Although they did not use the outdoor amphitheter, this is a beautiful spot.
5. Nicollet Island Pavilion - Minneapolis. This is a beautiful space! It is covered which is nice if it rains but still has the outdoor feel. One of my best friend's, Amy is getting married here next May. I can't wait to blog about it! :)

6. The Woods Chapel - Orono. This is the cutest space! I love the rustic feel and how private it is. There is also a chapel onsite in case of rain, which is a huge plus! There is also a quaint bridal cottage for the bride and her maids to get ready. Great for pictures!

If you are planning for an outdoor ceremony space, I highly recommend any of the above spaces. These of course are only a few. There are many more possibilites. I would suggest going to The Knot to research some spaces that might be of interest to you!

I will leave you with one piece of advice... if you decided on an outdoor ceremony site, be prepared for rain. I know, it's the dreaded word no bride wants to hear or even think about! But, the one thing we can not control is the weather. If it rains, you just need to make the best of it! After all, there are pretty cute umbrella pictures! :) Remember, it is about the marriage and the love between you and your fiancee. Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but about dancing in the rain!

Love,
Kristin
