Adalyn Grace - 4 Months Old

Miss Adalyn Grace turned 4 months old on January 11th. She is growing up so fast!!

In the last couple of weeks Adalyn has she started a sleep regression. I was warned about the dreaded "4 month sleep regression" but was hoping we would pass right by it. Well, I was way wrong. I haven't been so tired since she was a newborn. In the past, we would put her down around 8PM and she would wake for a bottle around midnight and then go back to sleep until around 2/3AM and then have a bottle and back to bed until morning. This wasn't so bad because she was able to fall right back asleep. Well, out of nowhere she started to regress. Her bed times became earlier (I am sure with her being at daycare and so tired) and her wake times WAY more frequent. When we would initially lay her down to sleep, she would (what Jimmy and I like to say) "fight the good fight" and cry and cry. Then she was waking almost every hour the entire night. I began to take her downstairs to sleep in the swing around midnight just to give myself some sanity. Not a good habit to start. I have been pretty discouraged.

We had finally got her out of the rock n play and in the pack n play in our bedroom. My plan was to have her in the pack n play as long as she was comfortable until she was ready for the crib (or should I say until I was ready for the crib...lol) :)

Well, we had her 4 month Dr Appt. and the Dr highly recommended we start the transition. Since we aren't getting sleep either way, I thought why not. Saturday night was the first night in the crib. She did okay... made it the whole night with a few random wake times. I fed her for all of these "awake" times just to make the transition smoother for her. I still didn't sleep well - without her next to my bed I find myself staring at the monitor all night!

Last night - night 2 of the crib was a whole different experience. Friends, I think we have turned a corner (fingers crossed, knock on wood). I put her down at 7:00PM and she slept until 3:45AM! Yep, you read that right! She cried at first and I had to go downstairs to see if she would stop. She was changed, fed and rocked and I knew nothing was "wrong" - so I sat downstairs looking at the monitor and watching the clock. I gave it 10 minutes (the worst of my life) but sure enough around 7 minutes she calmed down and fell asleep!! holy cow - that worked!!! Then around 9:30PM she started a soft cry - I was eager to jump up and run up there to her but a friend I was chatting with told me to hold off and give her a minute. So I watched the clock and waited two minutes. And then she fell asleep again. 3:45AM I was happy to get up and give her a bottle and a trillion kisses and cuddles. My big girl! I am hoping the trend continues. I find myself missing her watching her on the monitor. Often, Jimmy will say, "I just want to go in there and squeeze her." We of course don't...but we do peak in.

So I am happy to report the sleep is getting better. And our little Adalyn is getting "bigger and better" ever day. She weighs 14 pounds 6 ounces and is 24.75" long. In the 64th/65th percentile.

Adalyn's likes:
Blankets - she loves them on her face or with her at all times.
Her feet - she constantly is playing with them... even in her sleep
Her bunny at daycare - that was disassembled :(
Her play gym - loves hitting the toys hanging.
Mirrors- loves to stare at herself!
When I say "boo" to her. Makes her give a little giggle and smile every time.
Drooling - she is wearing a couple bibs a day.
Baths- she loves her "spa treatments" and splashing around.
Our doggy, Zoe - she seems to follow her wherever she goes.

Adalyn's Dislikes:
Sleep! ;-) - hoping we can cross this off the list...
Eating full bottles during the day. Her appetite has gone down some for daytime bottles.
Being in one place too long. She is still our social butterfly.
Her nasal spray and nose Frida. Yikes - those are some loud screams!

Here are some pictures of my beautiful girl. Ugh, my heart burst with love for this baby girl!
