Baby H - Week 34

6 weeks left... countdown is majorly on!

Last weekend I had my first baby shower. My Mom went above and beyond and did an amazing job hosting my family and some family friends. Around 20 ladies joined and I was SO blessed to have so many loving people there for me and Baby H! My cousins came and it was pretty hilarious we were all wearing stripes (picture below). It was fun to see them and my Aunts who I haven't seen in so long. Where does the time go?

After I got home from the shower, I was pooped. I took an almost 3 hour nap. Then Jimmy and I went through and organized all the gifts in the nursery. How fun... and stressful. I don't know where to put everything. I guess it's a good problem to have. :)

Sunday we put our crib together which my in-laws so generously purchased for us. We are SO thankful! And then we put up some wall decal with her name which my Mom made. She is just the best! So everything is coming together.

I had my 34 week appointment yesterday. I was freaked when I stepped on the scale but the Dr assured me it was all the water I am retaining. Seriously my hands look like sausages, help! When I stepped on the scale this morning it went back down to "normal" so who knows... it is what is is, right?

This weekend I have two more showers that some of my best friends are throwing and that my mother-in-law is throwing. I am very excited!!!

Love,
Kristin

Baby H - Week 33

33 weeks today (or yesterday technically)! I am now answering with how many weeks remaining I have instead of how many weeks far along I am. And we are in the single digits people! 7 weeks to go!

I have noticed whenever I am in public, people walking by look at me quickly in the eyes and then immediately down to my belly. There might as well be a sign that says, "STARE HERE!" I don't mind it though - just reminds me of this wonderful blessing I am carrying.

I am anxious for sure. I started putting some things together in my hospital bag just to remember what to pack (nursing tanks, etc.) I have started to pray more and dive in to a good book I purchased called, "Praying through your pregnancy." It helps me focus on the big picture instead of worry about all the details left to get done and the impending pain of labor I am about to endure. EEEK!

Today's devotional talked about praying specifically for your baby to have JOY! I thought it was so neat because that has been one of the specific things I am praying for my baby girl. It also talked about spiritual gifts and Jimmy and I had some time to discuss the ones we want to pray specifically for our daughter. We decided joyfulness and kindness were the ones we thought best for her. I know God is going to bless her little toes off and do amazing things through her! The devotion also referenced one of the scriptures our pastor read at our wedding, "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion." How true!

This weekend is my first baby shower. I can't believe it's finally here. I remember thinking when showers start I will know that the baby is coming soon. It still doesn't seem real. Will it ever!?

Jimmy and I have been soaking up "us" time as much as possible. Which includes a lot of dinner dates (I wonder what the scale will say about that... oops) but we are really enjoying these last few weeks together. We went to Maple Grove Days and although it was raining we had a good time listening to a live band. Baby girl went CRAZY! She was kicking so hard. She must have loved the music. :) We also went to a local restaurant and watched fireworks in the back of the car. It was really nice.

This week Jimmy finished another project in the backyard. Our stainless steel appliances also came in and we are so happy with the results.

Moving right along.... only a few short weeks left!

Love,
Kristin

Baby H - Week 32

LOTS has been going on in the Horan household! I am 32 weeks and am now counting down the days... (58 today!) I am getting very anxious to meet my baby girl but know I still have 2 months  left and am thankful that she is healthy and growing!

Speaking of growing - boy do I feel pregnant. And my hands and feet are suffering. My rings get tight pretty quick so I am debating whether I keep trying to wear them or just forgo it the rest of the summer. My feet are also hurting and swollen. I have found sitting on the deck with my feet in water helps! Otherwise the mornings and evenings are the worst. So much for my walks...

Other than the baby girl update, we have been BUSY updating our house. As a good friend of mine said to me recently - I am taking the "nesting" phase to a whole new level. I am even surprising myself but want to get everything done before the baby comes and before August so I can spend the last month just relaxing.

We have completed some backyard projects - trees down, bushes removed and landscaping done. My hubby has been busy! We also installed new carpet in the lower level. It really makes such a difference and looks so much more cozy. And this week we installed new stainless steel appliances. We have been wanting to do this for a long time and with the 4th of July weekend we found an amazing deal too good to pass up!

For the 4th of July we went to our friend Sarah & Kevin's for a BBQ then back home to watch the firework show our neighbor always puts on. Jimmy wanted to contribute to the show this year so we made a trip to Wisconsin to buy some "real" fireworks. Jimmy thought we should take the dogs as they haven't been out of state before. He was pleased when Koby did #2 once we arrived in the state of Wisconsin (that's for you, Packers!) LOL :)

I think time will probably continue to go fast from here on out. I received 4 of the baby shower invitations my friends and family are hosting for me. I feel SO blessed! It is overwhelming to have people in your life give and care for you so much. Baby girl is one lucky lady already! :)

The nursery is coming together as well. We painted and picked up most of the furniture. My Mom sacrificed her time and money and made her comforter, pillow and curtains. It turned out beautiful and I am so excited to see it all come together! Our in-laws are buying our crib and it's on back order but should come in soon. Our family's generosity is overwhelming!

This week I have a Dr Appt then next week is my first baby shower. I am so excited!

Love,
Kristin
