Thankful

They say that the older you get, the faster time goes. I could not agree more! I can't believe Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Where did this year go?

I find myself feeling very blessed and thankful for so many things!

First, I am thankful for my amazing family. I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home with parents who instilled morals in me that make me the person I am today. I thank God daily to have the parents that I do.

I am thankful for my husband, who loves me for who I am! He truly is the best husband in the world and as sappy as that sounds, I would not be who I am without him. He is my best friend and the love of my life! And I'm thankful for our little family of 4 with our two doggies. They bring me so much joy and I love the family we have.

I am thankful for my wonderful friends. I truly have the best friends. And I am so thankful that I was able to attend many of their weddings this year. It is so amazing watching them say their vows to the loves of their lives. I can't wait for the many more weddings to come and to watch all my beautiful friends form families. Such a blessing!

Lastly, I am thankful for the passion that God gave me to write and the passion he gave me for weddings. I don't know where it will lead me, but I know that God gives each of us gifts. I plan to follow what HIS will is for my life, knowing it will never steer me wrong.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and remember all that you are thankful for as well!

Love,
Kristin

How to Change Your Last Name

Congratulations! You are married and most likely have taken the last name of your now, husband.  As you open gifts from your wedding and receive congratulations you are probably being called by your now married last name. However fun that is, it comes with the question -how do I change my last name legally?
There is a process so I thought I would dedicate a blog to it.

Here are the "to do's":

1. Get your marriage license
You will need to get a copy of the original certificate that you, your husband, witnesses and officient signed. You should probably get this in the mail but if not call the office where you filed to get copies. You may ask for more than one because you might need to send a few in to different places.

2. Social Security Card
You will need to change the last name on this right away. I would google the social security administration website and fill out the application. Your number will stay the same. Either you can mail in the application with a copy of your marriage certificate or you can go to a local office and provide your certificate and most likely your ID.

3. Driver's License
Go to your local DMV and show them your marriage certificate and current ID to get a new one. This most likely will be a small charge and will come in the mail.

4. Passport (if applicable)
You can obtain a complete passport amendment/validation application at your local DMV. You will have to fill this out and send it in with your current passport, and a marriage certificate. Unfortunately they will charge you a fee to do this. If you plan on traveling out of the country any time soon I would make this a priority because it can take a while.

4. Bank Accounts
Call your local bank and see what they need. Some may ask you to again bring in a copy of your marriage certificate and ID. They will update all your information then.

Once you have your new driver's license and social security card the rest should be easy.. Here is a list of some places to change your name:

  1. Employer: Email, 401K plan, dental and medical policy, business cards
  2. Post Office
  3. Utility Companies such as gas and electric
  4. Credit Cards
  5. Mortgage/Landlord/Bank
  6. Doctor's Offices
  7. Dental Office
  8. Car Registration/Insurance
  9. Memberships: health clubs, etc.
  10. Voters Registration

Good Luck!
